HATHA YOGA
The term "hatha" combines the Sanskrit roots "ha" (sun) and "tha" (moon), symbolizing the twin energy forces, prana (vital force) and chitta (mind), which exist in everything and are balanced through the practice of Hatha Yoga.
A typical Hatha Yoga class involves slower-paced movements, with an emphasis on holding asanas (postures) for extended periods and integrating controlled breathing. This practice is suitable for those seeking a mindful, holistic, grounding yoga experience and wanting to achieve mental clarity, a healthy body, and a sense of peace.
MANTRA
Mantra is a sound, and sound is an aspect of energy, a powerful energy which can influence the mind. A mantra is a powerful sound vibration, rooted in the Sanskrit words for "repetition" and "freedom," that influences the mind and consciousness.
Mantras help practitioners concentrate, calm emotions, purify impressions, and invite positive energy by affecting the deeper layers of the mind and consciousness.
ABOUT ME (ALBA)
Yoga became a part of my life five years ago and has positively impacted all aspects of my life, bringing balance and well-being to both my body and mind. However, it was over the past three years, during a journey across Aasia and Latin America , that I decided to immerse myself more deeply in this ancient practice and Yoga evolved into my way of life.
I learned traditional yoga at the Sivananda Neyyar Dam Ashram in India and deepening my meditation practice at the Tushita Meditation Center in Dharamshala, Osho Gangadham Ashram in Rishikesh, and at Wat Pa Tam Wat Forest Monastery in Thailand. These experiences, along with the tools and knowledge I gained during my Yoga Teacher Training Courses i did in Rishikes, India (200H Yoga teacher Training and 100H Anatomy and Yoga Therapy TTC), as well as the guidance of my main teacher, Raj, have greatly influenced the practices I now share with you.
During my time living with ancestral communities, I immersed myself in traditional chants, discovering the joy of music as an expression of the heart rather than a pursuit of perfection. This, combined with the Sanskrit mantras that became the soundtrack of my days in India, deepened my connection to music. Now, I love to end yoga classes by chanting this mantras with the guitar.
Prior to this journey, I studied a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and worked as a social worker and educator, assisting homeless, migrants, children and individuals with mental health challenges. This background led me to volunteer with "Yoga de Rua," a project in Rio de Janeiro that uses yoga for social inclusion of homeless people.
Currently, I reside in Zürich (Switzerland) where I share yoga and also work as an educator in a daycare center.
