Workshop: Creating a BDSM Ceremony

– A formal act or set of acts performed as prescribed by ritual or custom. "a wedding ceremony; the Japanese tea ceremony."
– A conventional social gesture or act of courtesy. "the ceremony of shaking hands when introduced."

In this workshop in Zurich with Andy Buru (SWE) we will learn how to create a sadomasochistic ceremony, and then create a small sadomasochistic ceremony.

For us, to better understand who will be the audience, please write an email to imon@gmx.ch responding to these 3 questions:

– Experience: Have you been to (several) kink workshops or play spaces before?
– What do you wish or hope to learn or experience in this workshop?

Through example and experience, this workshop will break down the ceremonial elements of a generic sadomasochistic play. As the dominant, I don't need to control everything—but I would rather have one undeniable detail that clearly communicates our hierarchy, as a constant reminder of how things are. It may be as cliché as controlling the gaze of the submissive—eyes open, gaze down—or the way they may talk, or not—the words they use. Or it may be more abstract. Or symbolic. Or humorous. Or degrading—cementing the power dynamic. Ceremony also gives the dominant more confidence, as it's something known to rely upon. Something shared with the submissive, that they can indulge in to empower their dominant, putting them on the pedestal they hopefully deserve. This is the first half of the workshop.

The second half will be a communal ceremonial play with a common goal, maybe washing someone, together, or feeding someone, maybe something else. Simon will enhance the ceremony with music specifically chosen to heighten the ritualistic atmosphere, partly with original pieces that are performed live.

Pouring water. Soaking leaves. Bowls are handed out to the awaiting guests. Ceremonially rotated to mark a rite of passage. Over and over. It requires a special kind of bravery and dedication. Yet it's mere improvisation. What do we make space for in such a delicate practice? A trembling tea bowl on outstretched arms. Undressing a collarbone in slow motion. A drip of drool soaks into the tongue of another. Skin marked by discipline. A painted false face. A Perversion of Tea is a repetitive, sadomasochistic play experience in a sea of silence and noise. Of course, both events can be enjoyed individually. But those who know and love Andy's approach may already have guessed that the July event can be used as a practice and learning ground to more fully enjoy the playspace in October, which comes with fewer instructions.
