Penmai, meaning womanhood in Tamil, is an Indian classical dance drama that celebrates the essence, strength, and spirit of women. This powerful production beautifully explores the stories of the remarkable women in Lord Krishna’s life, illuminating their courage, compassion, resilience, and unconditional love.

From the nurturing embrace of Devaki and Yashodha, to the divine love of Radha, Rukmini, and Satyabhama—and the unwavering devotion of the Bhakta to the powerful rise of Draupadi from despair—Penmai is a tribute to the multifaceted dimensions of womanhood.

Through rich storytelling and expressive classical dance, Penmai draws parallels between mythological heroines and the experiences of contemporary women. It is a celebration of the silent strength, graceful power, and enduring spirit that define women across time.
